What is?

AmnioFix is a human amniotic membrane allograft.

What for?

AmnioFix is used to act as a barrier to prevent tissue adhesion and scarring following spinal surgery. Such adhesions can lead to recurrent back pain, and cause difficulty in re-operations. Adhesion prevention products are designed to minimize post-operative adhesions, usually by creating a mechanical barrier between internal tissues and organs.

How does it work?

Amniofix is a human amniotic membrane. According to its producer, it delivers anti-scarring and anti-inflammatory factors to the surgical site.

What are the pros and cons?

Many previous adhesion barrier agents have been shown to be ineffective. There is no enough clinical studies showing that Incert-S is effectual.

How to apply?

The membran-like and ready-to-use tisue is applied onto the laminectomy area prior to closure.
