The
person in pain describes the intensity of pain, and how they feel. In
its simplest form, the patient choses one of those: none, mild,
moderate, severe). Thus, this is a qualitative measurement technique.
Verbal
rating scale, indeed, not a single scale, but a group of scales. As the
common characteristics of this group, rather than a measurable scale,
the patient uses words to describe his/her pain. Being an example to
verbal rating scales is: McGill Pain Questionnaire.
