Norm Silver

What is?

Norm Silver is a pedicle screw system made of silver-coated titanium alloy.

What for?

It is used for thoracolumbar posterior segmental fusion, in cases with high risk of infection.

What are the pros and cons?

Silver-coated bone screws are designed to reduce the risk of bacterial colonization in patients. Antimicrobial effects of the silver is proven. However, evidence that comes from clinical studies (regarding pedicle screws) is scarce.
